BIZ: Webeurope boss says: He would rather recruit ex-drug dealers, convicts and child molesters than employ former servicemen or women
Updated: 03/16 14:43 Taunton, Somerset, UKPeople have different views to the war in Iraq (or Afghanistan) - some are pro and and some are against but most of the people have nothing against men and women who are deployed in it. But the owner of British Company Webeurope Karl Winn, 60, claims that he would rather 'recruit ex-drug dealers, convicts and child molesters' than employ former servicemen or women. He made the comment after he was contacted by Forces Recruitment Services for recruiting ex-soldiers.
Mr Winn, of Taunton, Somerset, wrote back: 'Personally, I'd rather recruit ex-drug dealers, convicts and even child molesters rather than consider anybody who has been in the pay of the British Government.'
'Anybody who has been in the pay of such a military force, and by their silence and complicity has condoned such illegal and immoral actions while accepting a monthly bloodstained pay-packet , certainly won't be considered for employment by us.'
'The reality for the families of their victims is that there will never be any justice, and there never will be any closure, for the loss of a son, a husband, a child, or a family member who has fallen victim to British Military personnel who are going beyond 'just doing their job'.
'Please remove us from your email list. Regards, Karl.'

Initially Karl claimed that the email was sent by a disgruntled employee who had hacked his email account but later on, he did admit that he sent the email.
Karl claims to be associated with a lot of organizations.
Karl Winn, Webeurope's founder and principle owner, has for many years supported numerous organisations (NGO's), such organisations include: -
Source: www.webeurope.co.uk
- The International Human Rights Network - Supporting others in applying Human Rights Based Approaches to UN Agencies, countries, and organisations.
- Film Makers Against War - FAW seeks to educate and raise awareness of UK and international war law
- Art and Sacred Places - Encourages the interaction of art and religion by commissioning artists to make work in sacred places.
- Relatives for Justice – A northern Ireland based organisation that supports and campaigns on behalf of the families of the 367 men, women, and children, who have been killed by members of the British Military and Police services. The campaign seeks to bring the perpetrators of such killings before the courts.
The company website has the following press release -
Between 5th and 9th of March, there was a private and personal email exchange between Karl Winn and Graham Brown the Managing Director of Forces Recruitment Services Ltd. FRS specialises in the recruitment of ex-British Army personnel, as part of the “Hire-A-Hero” campaign.
In those emails Karl Winn stated that his personal preference would be to offer employment even to ex-offenders, rather than British Military personnel because at least the former had been investigated, and bought before the courts, and held accountable for their actions. “The reality for the families of their victims is that there will never be any justice, and there never will be any closure, for the loss of a son, a husband, a child, or a family member who has fallen victim to British Military personnel who are going beyond "just doing their job".
“The reality from the north of Ireland, to Afghanistan and Iraq, is that the perpetrators of such atrocities will always be free to get on with their lives, safe in the knowledge that the policy of the British Government is to ensure their protection from prosecution”.
... “we are not talking about people who do their duty. Nobody is going to condemn any service man or woman for that. What I'm referring to is the unwillingness of far too many service men and women to give evidence against those who commit criminal offences. .. I'm not talking about incidents that happen in the heat of battle against armed combatants, but actions, that by any standard, amount to murder, or other such crimes against a civilian population. However, I accept we'll never agree on this. Your allegiance is to the British Military - mine is on the side of its victims”.
I am also against war but it is ridiculous for a company/person to have such a policy against ex-servicemen or women. If he has something against war, then he should be against the people who declare them, rather than people who are made to carry it out. Servicemen or women did not select the war but chose to serve the country in which ever way the country needs them, which in turn is decided by head of countries. The person should be thankful to the men/women in uniform, rather than comparing them to drug dealers, etc.
What do you guys say?

WEIRD: Location is everything: Broom closet sized apartment for £200,000 in London
Updated: 03/15 14:27 London, EnglandLast time I was in the market to buy a house, my realtor told me - "Location is everything". This 11 feet by 5.5 feet London apartment (converted out of a broom cupboard) is all about location as it is located opposite Harrods in Knightsbridge (London). The apartment has been apraised at £200,000. The owner Ray Barker uses it to sleep in and avoid the lengthy commute.
Check the pictures -
The 49-year-old bought the pokey space for £120,000 four years ago, the Mirror reported.
He said: ‘I do the cleaning while lying in my sofa bed. In fact, I can wash up, answer the door, make a cuppa and go to the loo all at the same time.’
The flat's two rooms measure 60.5sq ft (compared to a 72sq ft snooker table) and has a toilet, a shower which doubles up as a wardrobe, and six-inch deep cupboards.
It was converted into a living space in 1987 and bought by a secretary for £37,000.
Now worth almost six times as much, selling the flat would enable Mr Barker to put down an offer on 600-year-old Ballyfinboy Castle, which rests on two acres of land in Co. Tipperary, Eire.
But he said: ‘My cosy flat is just fine for sleeping. And it’d be a lot harder getting to my job in Chiswick from Ireland.’Source: www.dailymail.co.uk
Claustrophobia anyone? But living across Harrods might just do the trick for some women!

BIZ: Apartheid Call Center System: Barclays routes poorer clients to call center in India and wealthy to British
Updated: 03/13 15:46 UKHave you experienced your calls being routed to a call center in India, where the person on the other side of the globe doesn't seem to understand your problem at all and makes you wonder, if he/she is really speaking English or some other form of the language?
Barclays bank in Britain has the solution for their wealthy clients - the calls will be routed to their British call center, but the ones with poorer credit rating will still be routed to call center in India.
Those who have considerable savings or a credit limit that allows them to borrow around £500 from the bank or buy its products will be connected to a British operator.
Source: www.dailymail.co.uk
Though the reason for the change is not to give better customer service but to sell products to the people who can afford them. No surprise, but it seems like the call centers in India is not good at selling these products and services.
One Barclays sales executive said: 'Before we've had people ringing up who have been overdrawn, so we haven't been able to sell them anything.'
Critics say the bank is only interested in people with cash and not the genuine concerns of millions who have queries about the state of their finances.
Eddy Weatherill of the Independent Banking Advisory Service said: 'This is an apartheid system and certainly preferential to their wealthier customers.
'This is not intended to give the best advice, but a chance to make more money.'Source: www.dailymail.co.uk
Makes you wonder, is it really better to be routed to the call center in Britain with all the sales pitches for new products and services?

WEIRD: Opera Singer murders husband and then uses double to get fortune
Updated: 03/12 21:59 Kappel-Grafenhausen, Germany71-year wealthy fish Farmer, Hermann Hill, went missing from his home in the village of Kappel-Grafenhausen, near Freiburg (Germany), in October 2009. But sometime in December, his wife, 55-year old opera Singer Waltraud Hill, 55, showed up with him at a female lawyer's office in Freiburg, where she received power of attorney for all her missing husband's estate. She also visited a public notary with him. So, she got him to sign over to her his properties, stocks, bonds, cash and life insurance policy worth a fortune (£5 million).
It was later revealed that Waltraud had taken an impersonator to the bank who was made to look like her husband Hermann Hill. It is reported that she approached up to 10 people to play the part of the "fake" husband. The final willing candidate had a make-up artist work on him to make him look like her husband.
Police believe that she killed her husband and then got an impersonator to get the fortune. The husband is believed to be dead, but there is no proof of his death yet.
The alleged deception was uncovered when another man Mrs Hill had asked to impersonate her husband came forward to police.
Detectives launched an investigation in which officers interviewed 7,000 people, and found another eight people who admitted they had been asked to pose as the bogus Mr Hill.
One allegedly told detectives: "She showed me a photo of this old geezer, said there would be a 'good drink in it for me' if I played him at a lawyer's office and at a notary's. I didn't want to get involved."
Police also traced the lawyer in Freiburg and she confirmed details of the transfer of wealth to Mrs Hill. Detectives did not arrest her immediately, but asked her to turn up at the police station with her husband for an interview.
On the day she was supposed to show with him she telephoned in advance to say: "I am terribly sorry, but he has been called away on a business trip."
The singer explained that Mr Hill had surprisingly appeared, then disappeared again, and has remained missing for two months.
Detectives have not found the body of Mr Hill, but his wife has been arrested and charged with murder and fraud.
A police spokesman said: "We have to go on the assumption he is dead and that she is responsible for it. In the weeks after she went to the lawyer she made many conflicting statements to us.
"She thought she had committed the perfect crime, never thinking that anyone would ask questions about why a missing man would turn up to sign legal papers and then go missing again." Source: www.telegraph.co.uk
Did she really think that she will get away with an impersonator after asking 10 people?

WEIRD: Man reads his own obituary in the newspaper
Updated: 03/11 14:50 Dallas, TexasImagine this, you are going through your newspaper and you accidentally glance at the obituaries to find an obituary for you? First thing you might want to make sure is that other "living" people can see you and you are not sleeping.
The exact incidence happened with David Cerda from Dallas, Texas.
“I woke up to texts and phone calls, went out to Facebook and people were talking about it on Facebook,” Cerda said.
His mom, Maria Cerda, was flooded with phone calls and people dropping in to console her.
“A lady was telling me she was fixing to bake a cake, and I said, 'No, don't; David is not dead,'” she said.
Source: www.wfaa.com
It seems like one of David's acquaintances had mental issues and had submitted the obituary. Despite strict policies, Dallas Morning News never checked if it was genuine or not.
The Dallas Morning News says this fell through the cracks. "We are deeply sorry that we did not catch this falsified submission, and are checking into the source," the paper said in a statement. "We have apologized directly to Mr. Cerda and have also run an apology in today's newspaper. We are reviewing our fact-checking procedures to ensure the accuracy of the information contained in the Obituaries."
The Dallas Morning News said they do not just print any death notice that comes their way; they confirm the information with a family member and even call the funeral home to make sure it's legitimate.

At least David is alive and can refute the claim.

Avatar was more of a commercial movie with tons of CGI, where as Hurt Locker was more off an offbeat drama with great acting, amazing story and great direction.
Which side are you? Avatar or Hurt Locker?

WEIRD: Banned from Flying: Man banned from flying for masturbating midflight and exposing himself to a female passenger
Updated: 03/05 19:18 Philadelphia, USAMurali Krishna Nookella, 34-year computer programmer, seems like your average computer guy with a great resume (the linked in profile shows a guy of his name working as Sr IT Process lead at Erpander Corp.). But little did anyone know about his solo ambition to join the mile high club. So, as he was flying for work from Philidelphia to Denver on a Southwest flight 228 on Monday, he decided that the misson was on!
The woman, identified only by her initials in the affidavit, said that Nookella's "eyes were closed and his hands moved all around his groin area" underneath a "mustard/gold blanket pulled up to his waist." As the woman packed up her belonging to move seats, she "looked at Nookella and saw him holding his erect penis." The woman said that Nookella remarked, "You caught me." Nookella held a napkin in his left hand, the woman told the FBI. According to Nishida's affidavit, a copy of which you'll find below, the woman "did not look but heard a swishing sound. She thought Nookella wiped something." Source: www.thesmokinggun.com
Nookella is facing a misdemeanor criminal complaint charging him with indecent exposure and if convicted, he faces a maximum of 90 days in jail and $5000 fine.
Further he has been ordered by the court not to fly on any commercial aircraft nor can he contact witnesses involved in the matter.
The only word that comes to my mind is "disgusting"!

TECH: Deepak Kumar Paswaan: 7-year old with limbs growing out of his chest
Updated: 03/04 16:55 Buxar, Bihar, IndiaSeven-year-old Deepak Kumar Paswaan from Buxar (Eastern India) was born with arms, legs and buttock of a parasitic twin protruding from his chest. In his village some treat him like a god with eight limbs and others think he is the devil.
The twin stopped developing in the womb before it separated fully from Kumar and has left him with seven limbs.
"When he was born the doctors said he wouldn't live long but here he is and apart from how he looks he is very healthy," said his dad Veeresh Paswan, of Bihar, eastern India.
"I am tired of being different. I just want to live normally," added the youngster.
Source: www.metro.co.uk
The parasitic twin seems to have grown the same rate as the boy, so the boy has to carry the heavy weight of the twin with him at all times.
Sadly, the boy's parents earn less than $2 a day and can't afford the medical care needed for the removal of the twin. And no X-rays have been done yet to know how the twin has affect the boy.
This is not the first case of a parasitic twin in the region.
In 2005 Lakshmi Tatma was born with a twin attached at her hips. Just like Deepak, she was worshipped as an incarnation of the multi-limbed Hindu goddess of wealth.
She shot to fame after Sharan Patil, an orthopaedic surgeon, performed a groundbreaking 27-hour operation to remove the twin. Lakshmi recovered , and is now walking and attending school.
Parasitic twins occur when the twin embryo does not fully separate in the womb. One twin becomes dominant at the expense of the other and the undeveloped twin becomes a parasite, completely dependent on the body functions of the living twin.
Source: www.telegraph.co.uk
Imagine the sad condition for the boy - he is carrying the extra weight of a twin, facing the fact of being labelled a freak or devil and his parents' financial inability to get him medical care.
I hope someone steps up and starts a charity to contribute for his operation. I will definitely donate for the cause.
Will keep you posted, if I find a "legitimate" charity for him.

WORLD: 17-year old Chelsea King's body found near Lake Hodges
Updated: 03/03 15:32 San Diego, California, USA17-year old San Diego high school student Chelsea King's body was found in a shallow grave 10 feet from the shore of Lake Hodges. She seems to have parked her car near the lake last week and gone out for a jog and gone missing.
Chelsea was reported missing 6 days back on Feb 25th 2010.
Two days later, police had arrested John Albert Gardner III, a convicted sex offender whose DNA was found on King's clothing near where she is believed to have been abducted.
John Albert Gardner III was wearing GPS monitor until his parole ended in 2008. He is also linked to another attack on 23-year-old Candice Moncayo in the same region.
Kayla Moncayo, the opinion editor for the Silver Spur, the Rancho Bernardo High School newspaper, wrote about her sister's attack shortly after it took place. The story ran last Friday, one day after King disappeared.
Candice Moncayo was running on the trail when she "was tackled and thrown to the side of the running trail, caught off guard and without warning," her sister wrote.
"I thought he was going to rape me," Moncayo said of the overweight man who tackled her. "So I told him he would have to kill me first."
"He picked her up by the shoulders and began shaking her relentlessly," she wrote.
Moncayo fought her attacker, elbowing hard him in the nose. The shot made her assailant pause, allowing her to get out of his grasp and run away.
"All that was left of the ... attacker were the bruises he left on her and the DNA the police were able to swab from her elbow," according to the article.
Source: abcnews.go.com
Gardener is also now being connected to disappearance of a 14-year old, Amber DuBois.
Police said Gardner, who was arrested in 2000 for committing lewd and lascivious acts on a child under 14, may also be connected to the disappearance of Amber DuBois, a 14-year-old who disappeared near San Diego on her way to school in February 2009. Source: abcnews.go.com
I have the following questions -
- Shouldn't a sex offender of his category, always be on a GPS?
- Was he evaluated by a psychiatric before being released and taken off the GPS?
- How come he wasn't arrested for the attack on Candice Moncayo earlier?
- People like him should be medically castrated or incarcerated for life.
We need to have better laws and regulations for sex offenders otherwise our kids will never be safe!
